With the start of the Olympics just days away, China will soon be front and center on the world stage. But with issues like its polluted environment and human rights violations dominating the news, will the Games be clouded by China's failures, or will it instead be a proud coming-of-age moment for this rising world power? iConflict's Shaun Skolnick reports.

Interesting video out of Hong Kong, where three pro-Tibet campaigners were prevented from entering the city on Tuesday and deported by the gov't just days before the Olympic torch relay though the former British colony, activists said. The three were planning to hold a news conference on the situation in Tibet, which convulsed with anti-Beijing protests in March and has been under lockdown since.

This video is just tragic. The camera crew shot parents waiting nearby a collapsed school, hoping that their child would be pulled out alive from the ruble. All over parts of China effected by the earthquake, this scene is being played out over and over again. Sadly, few survivors are being recovered.

It seems the China PR machine needs to work harder if it wants to avoid scenes like what took place today in London. As this dramatic video shows, protesters angry over China's human rights record and its recent actions in Tibet scuffled with police and made attempts to extinguish the Olympic torch. Is this the start of things to come as the torch travels the world?

Clearly what happens in Europe doesn't stay in Europe...Three anti-China protesters have climbed the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco hours before the Olympic torch is due to pass through the city. The campaigners wore helmets and harnesses as they scaled the bridge's suspension cables and unfurled banners reading "One World One Dream. Free Tibet" and "Free Tibet 08."

While there were small protests, there was a large display of pride in Hong Kong as the Olympic Torch made its way through the city. As this video shows, many young Chinese are eager to show the world China from their prospective, which is very different from what many non-Chinese perceive.

Great video to view. A Tibetan woman took the Olympic torch the last steps to the top of Everest on Thursday, realizing "a dream of all Chinese people," but Tibetan exiles criticized Beijing for politicizing the Games. "Long live Tibet!" and "Long live Beijing!," the climbers, all wearing red, shouted joyously into a TV camera.
