What happens when a King is stripped of his power and told the age of Monarchy in his country is over after almost 300 years of rule? He leaves. That's what happened today as Nepal's deposed King Gyanendra left his palace for good Wednesday, marking an end to the world's last Hindu monarchy. But the 94 year old mistress of the King's grandfather was permitted to stay in the palace.

Apparently the King had a summer palace to go to, but the 94 year old mistress had no family who could take her in, so she was allowed to stay. I guess in Nepal its better to be the mistress than to be the King!
