apparently China has high standards for building codes. It sounds more like its contractors. Although, how many buildings can really survive such a violent earthquake anywhere in the world?

The recent standard is Richter Scale 7.0 earthquake-resistant. But still there are many jerry-built projects in the collapsed school buildings. I believe the government will study it and give someones punishment as they deserved, and correct the earthquake-resistant standard from now on, re-check all the school and hospital buildings all around the country.
